Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (SWB CCG)

Mental health and wellbeing services in Sandwell and West Birmingham

Sandwell and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (SWB CCG) are part of your local National Health Service (NHS), we commission (buy) local health services on behalf of the local population. We commission a range of services in primary and secondary care and mental health and wellbeing services are one of these.

Wellbeing has been defined as “more than the absence of mental illness”. It implies ‘completeness’ and ‘full functioning’ and includes such concepts as emotional wellbeing, satisfaction with life, optimism and hope, self-esteem, resilience and coping, spirituality, social functioning, and emotional intelligence.

The kinds of service offered for mental health and wellbeing include:

  • Guided self help
  • Signposting to other services and help navigating to them.
  • Peer support and access to social groups
  • Gardening programmes
  • Physical health care advice
  • Fitness programmes
  • Education and learning
  • Social activities
  • Healthy lifestyles and active lives
  • Arts, gardening, creative activities
  • Befriending
  • Group work

Currently, there are a number of access points for mental health and wellbeing services in Sandwell and West Birmingham. We are taking the opportunity to review and reflect on current service provision and need your help to shape what a future mental health and wellbeing service could look like.

In October, we held a public engagement event at The Cap Centre in Smethwick which was fantastically attended by local patients and carers.

As mental health issues affect one in four people, it is important that we hear from as many people as possible on mental health and wellbeing services. Please take a few minutes to click on the link below and complete the online questionnaire: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/localmentalhealthandwellbeing

Or, if you prefer to complete the questionnaire in a hardcopy, download a copy here or call: 0121 611 0231 for a copy to be sent to you.

The Freepost address is:

Please ensure you use the capital letters as shown above, so that the Post Office’s machines can read the address automatically. You just need this one line address, which will be delivered to us.

We look forward to hearing from you by 30th November, and thank you in anticipation for taking the time to feedback your views to us. All information received will be analysed and collated into a report to be considered by the decision makers as they plan and commission mental health and wellbeing services for the future.
